ABERGAVENNY TENNIS CLUB

Est. 1923

New Covid-19 Arrangements: 22 June

As you will no doubt have heard, the First Minister has allowed the re-opening of outside sports facilities from Monday 22 June 2020.

In accordance with the management committee being required to assess the local risks and to establish local measures in addition to national requirements, I am pleased to advise that Abergavenny Tennis Club will be opening all courts from Monday 22 June with members being asked to adhere to the following guidelines and requirements:

  • Singles play is allowed

  • Doubles play is allowed only where the pairings are from the same household

  • One to one coaching is allowed (see separate message below from the Head Coach, Carys)

  • There will be no social sessions currently

  • All play must be pre-booked using the court booking system with names of ALL players registered.  Please note the code for the court booking system has changed this year.

  • Please bring your own equipment and balls

  • Avoid changing ends during play unless you can do so safely

  • No handshaking and avoid physical contact

  • Try to maintain the 2m distancing in and around the facilities

  • Maintain hygiene measures using hand sanitisers (placed adjacent to gate entrances)

  • Do not play if feeling ill or isolating

  • Bookings can only last for one hour currently and to note this allows a 50-minute playing time with 5 minutes before and after allowed for safe changeover

  • Access to the hard courts will for a period be a one-way system with access via the mini court and egress via the pathway next to court 1

  • The clubhouse will remain out of bounds currently other than for emergency coaching access, this will be reviewed again in the near future

  • A first aid box will be located with the defibrillator externally to the clubhouse

  • All benches will be out of use currently

  • Please take all rubbish home after play.

Should there be further unavoidable disruption to play due to changes in lockdown measures then the committee will review this position again.

Hopefully, if we keep within these guidelines and requirements and act sensibly we will be supporting a safe early return to more normal playing conditions and I look forward to seeing you back on court very soon.

Kind regards

Bill
